Valerie has been dancing since the early 1970s and started calling quite soon after; she dances with three local clubs and calls for about a dozen. For many years she has danced historic dances - C15th, C16th, and Regency - and also teaches dances from these periods. She loves the variety of dance found in the Folk Clubs but also hugely enjoys Playford.

Valerie calls for Barn Dances, general Folk dances, Playford Balls, Regency Balls, Festivals and runs workshops on dances of different periods.

Contrary to popular belief, Valerie is not Bristolian having lived in many places, including Bristol, Somerset, South Wales and Southern Ireland, but hails originally from Yorkshire.

Valerie says "I haven't done anything very earth-shattering but I've had a huge amount of pleasure from both dancing and calling".
