Paul has danced at EIFF for twenty-five years, but this is his first appearance as a caller. Paul started dancing in East Grinstead in the mid 1970s. To his surprise he found he liked it and continued when he moved to the Cambridge area, where, a year or so later, he joined a dance display group. In the mid 1990s he started calling when the caller at his club moved from the area. He now calls at several dance clubs in the Cambridge area. For nearly ten years, he’s been the caller and host at many dance holidays from Scotland to the Isle of Wight. Some of these holidays have been a mixture of English and American, others Playford style only. Although he does call for ceilidhs, his main interest is calling for social dancers. He enjoys dancing and calling English dances, from 1650 to the present day, and American square and contra dances. |
