He also studied Contempary dance and Improvisation at the dance academies of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. from 1973 to 1975 he was a professional dancer at the "International Danstheater" in Amsterdam. Since the early eighties Eddy Tijssen has been recognised as a teacher and choreographer of Bulgarian Dance in Bulgaria as well as elsewhere. Very often improvisation in Bulgarian dance has played an important part in his sessions. In the last few years he has been a choreographer in theatre pieces, very often made on outside locations. As well as being a dancer, teacher and choreographer, over the years Eddy Tijssen has taught himself in playing the kaval (the Bulgarian shepard’s flute). |
