| I have been fascinated by the magic of the Bulgarian traditional dances since of the age of 10.
In 1990 I graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with Master’s degree in Bulgarian traditional dancing and choreography. I worked as a professional dancer and choreographer with the Bulgarian folk ensembles: - ‘Rhodopa’, ‘Trakia’ and ‘Pirin’. I took a part as leading dancer in a lot of performances in Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Macedonia, Albania and Italy. During this period I was also working as a dance teacher and choreograph for ‘Ivan Vazov’ High School and Kneza Community Centre. I have lived in London since 2001 and am a member of The Folk Dance Group ‘Tanets’ - based at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. During the last 2 years I have run Bulgarian dances workshops in Manchester, Oxford, London and SIFD- Swansea. I have also had the opportunity to attend ‘Balkan Plus’ and the ‘Festival Dance Around the World’. I am impressed how many people in the UK are interested in Bulgarian folk dances and it will be a pleasure for me to contribute to their growing popularity. |
