What we're about

Eastbourne International Folkdance Festival occupies a premier position in the folk calendar.

Not only is it the first major Festival of the year, we like to think it is one of the best, because it concentrates on just one thing - providing workshops and dances for enthusiasts - and really does it rather well.

We receive many very complimentary comments from those who join us, whether first-timers or diehards, and one thing that lots of people tell us is how friendly the Festival is. And that isn't just due to the organising committee, but to the spirit of the folk dance world.
Also it is not just that we set out to attract the finest performers, although we certainly do get the best, it is that we want you to concentrate on dancing and playing, not moving about from place to place. All our venues are a short walking distance from each other, as is the canteen for snacks, light meals and the bar.

Once you have arrived at the Festival site you can move freely and easily to any workshop or dance, whatever your particular favourites.
During the day we will have four workshop sessions, and an afternoon tea-dance. On Friday evening there are three simultaneous dances; on Saturday and Sunday nights there are four, plus our special events.
We also make it easy for you to visit the Festival. One season ticket gains you admittance to all events, although day tickets are also available.

Costs invariably increase, but season ticket prices have been kept as low as we can whilst still ensuring the quality of artists and events for which the Festival is known. It still provides a truly excellent programme, and we think the Eastbourne Festival is a very good deal indeed.

So what else does Eastbourne offer?
Well, there's the genuine welcome (or, in the case of our many regular Festival-goers, the welcome back!)
There are the hot and cold drinks, snacks and a friendly crew at every venue.
At Bishop Bell school, our Headquarters, there's a goodly range of really great light (and heavier!) lunches, a bar with hard and soft drinks, wine, beer and cider
It's a non-smoking Festival.
All venues are within easy walking distance.
A lot of really nice, relaxed, friendly people who'll make you welcome.
A really pleasant town centre for the times when you're away from the Festival site itself, always assuming you're able to tear yourself away.
